Version 3.3
I want my money back!!!!! This app is a total misrepresentation of text to speech for $1.99. I have this product iTranslate for free and it works well. this application is the same application but does not do speech to text as advertized. It does exactly the same thing as the free version EXCEPT you can buy each text to speech language for an addional $1.99 EACH. That means I buy this version for $1.99 and get nothing more than the free version with the ability to buy 16 more languages for $1.99 This is a rip off - I want my money back Apple you must do something about this!!!!!

Version 3.3
This app is very easy to use. You can show the translation to the person you're trying to communicate with. Or if you purchased the voice you can play it for them. I purchased "Carlos" for the Spanish translation and I'm very impressed with the quality. I get to hear how to pronounce the words. The description clearly states that voices are an in-app purchase, so there's no trickery going on. It may not perfectly translate all the time, but for most situations it's fantastic!
If using on iPod Touch you must have Internet access

Minor detail! This product says it works on iPod Touch, but it cannot access files unless your Touch has Internet access. Instructions should have included this detail. I have several aps that say they work with my iPod Touch, and they all specify whether or not the file is actually downloaded or if you need Internet access. I just wasted 99 cents.
Poor translater

Doesn't translate most words. As I drive around and notice commonly used words in Spanish, I'm trying to use the translater to help me. I almost always end up on the Internet using safari to give me the translation. This morning the word was aciete, which means oil. Not sure why iTranslate won't translate such basic words.
Requires Internet to translate

Great App that allows more translation languages, however, it requires Internet connection. Suggest having an app that has pre-loaded commonly used travel phrases that does not require one to be connected. During travel to foreign countries, sometimes the internet is limited!
does not give phonetic translation!

Version 1.6
does not give phonetic translation! what's the point of a translation if it does not give the translation so I can understand it or speak it. ie. Hello typed in English: Hebrew translation is written in Hebrew script!

why not the Hello=Sha-lom-e and then the hebrew script?

This does not work. No matter what I type in English to be translated to French... It comes back EXACTLY like I typed it in English. Sent complaint and received email back that SOMETIMES it can be incorrect. Well ... Ok ... Every word ... Every time? Please. Don't waste your money.

It is perfect for what i need which is that i go to mexico each year and dont speak spanish but if i am out a little hut resturant with no wifi then i am doomed. If you would add the ability to translate without wifi then it gets 5 stars but if not there is no point to this app and i will still give it 1 star.

For anyone who hasn't figured it out in order to use non qwerty keyboards (Japanese Russian Arabic) keyboard in the app. You must first enable it in the Iphone settings. (settings/ general/ keyboards/ international keyboards) then switch between them with the globe icon next to the space bar. This should be added to the apps description.
Pretty good

Version 3.0
The only thing I can think to add to this to make it worthy of 5 stars would veto make the keyboard change to whatever the base language is that you want to have translated. For example if you want to translate from English to Portuguese the keyboard would be in English. And for when you want to go from Portuguese to English it would be a Portuguese keyboard. I know this can be changed in the globe button, but the keyboard does not contain all of the ASCII characters used in Portuguese so more than half the time I need to guess with words. Also if this program worked without WiFi or 3G this would be the best program out there
Very Helpful, and fun!

Version 2.1
I used iTranslate first and loved it. Obviously the free version is slightly more economical. But for two bucks this is a fantastic application. I have a fried whose Greek and I can now communicate with him in his language from time to time, and it's really easy. iPhone 3.0 has made applications like this practical, and ball. WIth the copy and paste that is available now with the 3.0 phone operating system it's easy to translate foreign language text into english and back. Never has it been so easy to understand text written in a language other then you native tongue.
And it's easy to choose which language is the source language and which language is the final product. Just select say German to Greek and type or paste the text and click the button and your communicating. It's amazingly easy and there are 42 languages. I like typing and email into it in english translating into Greek, or hebrew, etc. and pasting it into my email and sending it out.
If you have the slightest hesitation about this app because it doesn't have a perfect score; read the less then perfect reviews. And you'll find as I did those reviews are people who very specific complaints that don't effect most of the people using this app.
Thank You Outer Space Apps for this great app.
Works well Overall

Works well overall and has practical merits. Audio texts are clear and smooth. Real human voices. Doens't always translate. Even simple phrases. Be sure if you upgrade from free to plus that you upgrade within the free version while in the program to be sure you don't have to repurchase languages.

I was looking for a Hebrew translator, and this one is by far the best! I'm a second year Hebrew student and needed something to look up quick words...this is it! Awesome interface, the only thing lacking is Hebrew localization, but retrevial time is so quick that it's not really an issue. For $.99...this is a steal!
