This is the "REAL" app, not the fake on

Another application is trying to capitalize on ldsscripturesapp.com by naming their application LDS Scriptures App --but accept no substitute, THIS is the app that has the Gospel Principles 2010 manual, THIS is the app that allows you to share content with others and to add their shared content to your iPod/iPhone don't get fooled by the other application, THIS is the one that you want to purchase. --I personally don't like paying for things that should be free---but the only other choice that I was looking at was purchasing iSilo, and I figured, for $5 more, this app has everything I need AND I can upload my OWN content. If you are LDS, this is the only app you need, don't settle for anything less, it's worth the investment, you spent more buying your quad, this has EVERYTHING.
It does not get much better than this ...

When you sit down to read your scriptures, or your lesson, what do you want to do:
1. Be able to find what you need to read easy and fast. 2. Highlight what you read. Maybe highlight in different colors. 3. Create notes or comments by what you have read. 4. Add references to what you have read to other scriptures or church material. 5. Add different bookmarks for different areas you might be studying.
So to accomplish this you would need a good dozen books, highlighters, paper, pens, pencils, sticky notes, bookmarks and a good sized table or strong arms to carry it all.
This application gives you all of this in an easy to use interface that is customizable and fast, all in the palm of your hand!
There are additional features like auto scroll, tags, searching capabilities, history and more that make this application a delight to use.
All the 2009 LDS content is there ... you really would not need anymore.
What are you waiting for! It does not get much better than this ...

This app has more functionality than the free LDS scripture app but I find it way overpriced. As is, this app is worth about $4.99 to me. My suggestion to potential buyers is to buy the app if you want more material than the free app (i.e. conference talks, reference manuals, hymns, etc.) as this app has a lot more material than the free scripture app. However, I don't suggest you buy this app if you are looking for extra bookmarking and marking features (these are difficult to use and difficult to backup). I bought this app in hopes of doing a lot of marking, bookmarking, and indexing and was sorely disapointed. If you just want to read the scriptures, then the free app provides this with a more intuitive user interface. There are a lot of strong reviews for this app and I was frankly disapointed after paying $15.00 for this app.
Here are some limitations and suggestions for future versions of the app:
- It would be very nice if there was a PC/MAC app that went along with this app and that would allow synchronization. This way, you could add notes, bookmarks, etc. more easily on the PC and then view/use these notes on the iPhone at church. - It is much more difficult to browse through the topical guide on this app than it is on the free app. In this app you select a letter and then have to scroll through the list of topics of the same letter. For example, if you want to find the topical guide entry for "Truth" you need to scroll down to the 'T' entry, and then scroll several dozen pages in the list of all T entries until you get to "truth". This is much more difficult than typing in "Tr" on the free app to get to the "Truth" entry. In the free app, you use the keyboard and can quickly get to the topical guide entry of interest. - I don't like how the "stack" works when reading scriptures from your bookmarks. If you select a scripture from a bookmark, you cannot easily go back to the bookmark page you were previously at. - It would be nice if you could tell if a verse has been bookmarked (i.e. a reverse bookmark). When you are reading a verse, you can then see if and when the verse has been bookmarked (this is like creating your own footnote). Unfortunately, you cannot tell whether a verse has been bookmarked unless you browse through all of the bookmarks - Backups and restore are a real pain. If you invest a lot of time in creating notes, bookmarks, etc., it is not easy to backup and restore your lost data base (backup involves the email of a file and requires you to reenter all of your email settings so you can send an email from the application). - There seem to be two "modes" when reading the scriptures. If you access a scripture from the home page, you have a lot of verse marking options like highlighting and marking. However, if you access a verse from a bookmark, you don't have these highlighting features. I find it awkward working with two different user interfaces for the same scripture.
In short, this app has a lot of new material but the fancy features for editing, marking, etc. are just not very good. Hopefully some of these issues will be addressed in future versions.
My Favorite App

Sunday morning - 6:30am I've got agendas, manuals, booklets, sign-up sheets, postings,... And a big scripture case. A couple of hours later in come the wife and kids. Toys, coloring books, gold-fish, crayons and dolls take up most of the pew. One less big bulky thing to carry! I've actually found myself leaving my scripture case in my car! Is that OK?! One suggestion I'd ask. Can the bookmarks be made to allow a personal note. So, instead of seeing the first line of the passage, let me "name" my bookmarks. If I could somehow sort them - even better. This would allow me to find exactly what I'm trying to find a lot quicker because I could label the bookmarks.
The best, fastest, most well designed scripture app

I have used 2 other scripture apps and this is the best. I love how quick it is to get to a particular scripture, and to bounce around to previous locations for studying cross references and looking things up in class. The page numbers in many of the manuals are invaluable to keep up with a teacher in class -- this is a unique feature I think. And the search feature is amazingly fast. Great for anyone, perfect for a power user.
The Best Scripture App!!!

Of all the Scripture Apps currently on the App Store and this one is the best hands down! The ablitlity to get where you are going quickly, bookmark easily, highlight, underline, make notes, landscape mode, and the list goes on and on.... Of course it doesn't have the most content because the author isn't willing to break the law to publish content that is not yet approved by the Church's copyright to distribute for the iPhone or iPod Touch. I am sure as soon as the Church apprives the use of chapter headings, footnotes, and all of the other content it will be in this app in no time.
Amazing

This application is absolutely amazing. It has everything anyone ever needs when it comes to scriptures. The only problem I had was I did an upgrade and lost my notes and highlights. I then found out they even provide a back up service to prevent that. They think of everything and I am sure if you need something else they will work on puttiing that in too.

This is a good application but After a purchased it, I realized there was no LDS Scripture references... this would really make this a great app! Also, keep the price down and I'm sure more people will be likely to purchase it.
Fantastic App...current version has a major bug

This is a fantastic app. Very functional. Quality content. Constantly being improved. The current version has a bug in it that disabled the search function, which is a huge drawback considering how effective/useful the search function is in this app (when it is working). Hopefully the developer will respond quickly and fix the bug. Regardless, the app is worth the $. If the search function is fixed, the app is easily a 5 star app. After posting the above review the bug was fixed by the developer. I have adjusted my rating to 5.

THE BEST scripture app hands down. Well worth the $15. The greatest thing about it is the continual updates. They continue to work hard and improve the app. I love it!

Fast and Efficient

The speed and efficiency of this application is the first and most important feature for me ... but other features and improvements continue to come which is great. Some that I like are the night viewing (white text on black), auto-scrolling, verse selection on right hand side (and recent improvement was much appreciated) and the amazing keyword search. It's amazingly fast for as much text as it has to search for a device such as the iPhone.
Also, when I posted a review with a comment about needing the ability to disable auto-rotate to landscape mode, the very next release had that change, so I was very appreciative of that.
I still look forward to it becoming more polished and eventually getting chapter heading, footnotes and other such things which will complete it. It's still a work in progress but the best I've used so far (I've purchased and used other options).
One feature I'd love to see, but don't know how to implement well would be the ability to have short-term bookmarks, or perhaps a history of my last 10 locations -- so that when I'm bouncing between books, such as in class, or just want to bounce over to a reference then return to reading, I can do so easily. Kind of like keeping my thumb in a paperwork while flipping elsewhere, then returning to where I was. That would be excellent.
All in all I'm pleased and am able to use it nicely for my personal reading and at church and not feel slowed down, which is the most important feature of all.
Ignore the Price, Buy the App

15 dollars seems steep for an iPhone app, but think about how much you paid for your last triple combination. This app blows any othe scriptures app out of the water, and for the value you get from it, 15 is a small price to pay. I have enjoyed the free scriptures app for a while, but when I finally decided to buy this one, I instantly fell in love with it. You can do anything with this app: follow along in the lesson manuals and instantly jump to the pre-linked scriptures and then right back to the lesson; sing hymns in Sacrament mtg or even Primary; prepare your FHE lesson; read General Conference; change the font size on the fly; read with one hand using two different auto-scroll features. My personal suggestion: turn on the grid feature (used to be the default) as it makes finding scriptures easy and amazingly fast. I had a little reservation about paying for a scriptures app, but this is truly a brilliant app, and the level of thought and dedication that has gone into it is stunning, and I'm happy to support such a quality product. Add to that a constant string of innovative updates that keep this app on the cutting edge and I would pay twice as much.
Absolutely worth every penny!

They constantly add new content and update the app frequently. Do not get the other $15 app!
