Starts slow and easy but gets deliciously fast and furious the longer you play. This is just the thing for getting the little grey cells going on the train or bus in the morning.
Don't be fooled this is NOT flight control!!!!

Game play is fair. Lanes need to accomodate two cars in different directions. This is not in the same class as flight control. I regret buying this gamr; it needs a lot of work. Will wait for update and reconsider my review.
Flight Control with Taxis

If you liked Flight Control, you'll like this game. The game play is very similar, as is the look and feel. It's a fairly polished game.
One gripe is that the ingame music cannot be turned off. Also, the fx sound of tire screeching gets to you after a while.
Sometimes if the spot is near the street corner, it can be hard to tell which of the street you're supposed to be at.
But these are minor issues. Otherwise, a good well-executed game.

Very simple game premise- you guide the taxi through a maze of NY streets (grid) or click on the passenger to direct the cab. A little awkward as my finger tends to cover up the action, so I have to give this a passing grade, but just so. Perhaps those with more delicate or super-thin fingers can enjoy this.
Well worth 99 cents - easy to pick up and play

I bought TaxiDrive today on an impulse and I have to say that I am very happy with my purchase.
The gameplay is very simple, allowing the player to tap on a destination (the taxi automatically finds the most direct route) or by drawing a specific path for the taxi to take. As you pick up and complete more and more fares, you start to unlock additional taxis (extra lives) and more traffic starts to appear on the streets.
After my first time playing I unlocked the second area in the game and I'll be going back to practice so I can beat my high score.
The developer has indicated that additional areas (maps) will be added in future updates, and I would love to see some online leaderboards and some graphic options to allow for unlockable taxis or traffic scenarios (perhaps a competing taxi that will pick up passengers unless the player gets to them first?).
If you like games that can be played for short or long periods with difficulty that ramps up based on your skill, I would highly recommend this game, especially at only 99 cents.

An addicting twist on Crazy Taxi and Pac-Man, SyncRage's new Taxi Driving mahem is hard to put down. Even a hot little High Score Vixen to taunt me with her surprised expressions when I dare touch her! With a similar control scheme as another favorite of mine, Firemint's Flight Control, it' super easy to get competitive scores and start unlocking new levels. This is a great game to have handy anytime you feel the need for some gameplay that starts calm, but quickly builds up frenetic route planning and then emergency re-routing. I am really looking forward to the new maps and challenges SyncRage comes up with here.
No longer just a wannabe Flight Control in a Taxicab!

Version 1.1
Now even cooler with 3 new maps, more variety in traffic, VIPs, and lightning fast police cruisers one has to carefully avoid!
Sure this is sort of a rip of Flight Control, but there are some key differences in gameplay besides simply the fact that you're driving a cab and not in a Flight Control Tower. You only control your cab, you have no influence over the traffic and, in a true Pac-Man like way, evidently these New York streets are all one lane. Once the traffic starts getting thick, taking a fare from some random point on the map to their desired end point can get NASTY! I'm not sure how the fares' fares are determined other than by distance between the start and end points...you can't run up the meter by wasting time or circling the entire map a couple of times. One legitimate dis, I'll grant, is that these guys went overboard trying to copy the "look and feel" of Flight Control. I'm sure some folk might even think it was done by the same company. They'd still have had a great game if they DIDN'T try to copy Flight Control's look so closely since now it cheapens the whole experience a bit.

Version 1.0
This is a fun variant / "companion" game to Flight Control. If it had FC's location-based leaderboard tracking (right now it only has local high scores for each of the 3 included maps), it would be much better. I wish the streets were two-way, allowing travel in both directions simultaneously. Right now if another car is on the street, it is effectively off-limits. Two-lane, two-way streets would not only be more "taxi-driverish" but would also allow for *some* streets (or sections thereof) to be single or dual-lane one-way ONLY paths, adding more depth to the game. Finally... here's hoping the devs plan to add more cities/maps as free upgrades and *not* releasing them as separate apps (which wastes precious room that could be used for another app!) or as in-app purcha$es. (I for one am NOT looking forward to all the app developers being able to try and make users pay for upgrades and enhancements in the 3.0 software...)
