Description
Droneo will bathe your ears with rich polyphonic textures!

Droneo is a synthesizer which drones with various timbres and precise intonations that blur the distinction between tones, timbres and chords. Its drone is great for meditation, centering, and calming, walking and biking, but also can be set up for discordant noise and insect-like buzzing and chirping.

''Brilliant ! Haunting & beautiful. Inspiring to use in creative music projects for recording or even live performance. The aching, melancholy voice drones are a perfect, gentle way to relax, meditate, induce calm & even aid sleep. Henry you have put something wonderful into the world here, not only an engrossing fun app. Any musicians lucky enough to discover Droneo will find it as cool as I do. Could be used on a daily basis by those practicing relaxation techniques & is a steal at the price!"

"Composers delight"

This is a truly beautiful little app, and should not be missed by any musicians or dabblers into minimalist or drone based composition. It produces a wide variety of mesmerising drone based tones, all customisable by the user. I have been exporting the audio straight into Logic via a midi keyboard and the results are fantastic. The creative possibilities presented by the iPhone continue to astound me! I highly recommend this app.

The most forward thinking music app I have seen.

This app allows me to deal with ratios in sound. Most other music apps are limited to equal temperament. Thank you Mr. Lowengard for taking a step forward in musical thinking, and giving us the chance to experience music in a new way via your app, Droneo!

Wonderful software. With the evolving voices it's as though I'm being accompanied by a living breathing entity - at the same time combined with precise control over what's played: the tuning, the notes and harmonics.

With Droneo, you can create surprisingly rich, motion filled drones which change over time in a controlled way.

Quietly nested in your earbuds or blasted though your stack of amps, Droneo fills your droning needs!

Droneo is a relative of one of my other iPhone Apps, SrutiBox.

Droneo uses 8 voices ("reeds") which can be precisely and individually tuned, randomly detuned,

chorused, and modulated. The relative pitch and volume of each reed can be set individually, making for a wide variety of drones.

These "reeds" use various timbres suitable for drones, including vocal-like timbres and evolving, dynamically generated timbres.

The settings for all the intervals can be visualized and manipulated using

a special "Tone spiral" interface.

Droneo is also an excellent way to play with the way chords fuse into timbres -- which is why there's such a heavy emphasis on interval specification.

You can get a feel for how certain timbres fit "naturally" in certain frequency ranges, and how tunings and timbres and chords intertwine.

Version 1.2.1 provides a number of fixes and improvements:

- Newer FV1.1 exported Droneo Voice format is more flexible and tolerant.

Droneo is another drone synthesis app, an 8-voicer, which has more flexible droning options and a simpler interface than my other drone app, SrutiBox.

Much like it's relative SrutiBox, Droneo can pull you into a thick world of sound so quickly that time simply becomes nothing. Dreamlike, hypnotic and wide open for tonal experimentation, this application is perfect for anyone looking to escape into malleable soundworlds. As I type, Droneo is humming away downstairs through my stereo . . . churning through two evolving, breathing textures, created on a spiral of dense Harry Partch-ian design. Great stuff. Can't recommend this enough.

If you want to experiment with droning chords, harmonics, and overtones, there is a year's worth of experimentation in this little app. I intend to use it for self-education, and perhaps for harmonium drones during live acoustic performances. And the whole integrated concept of honeycomb art and insect noise is just .... it's just .... I can't describe it. Sweet as honey?

Is any one else getting popping/clicking with the "evolving 1" timbre? I tried to find an email address to email the developer directly but couldn't find one. Bummer because this is my fav timbre

this is a great app. not only does it sound great, but its great for someone who is wanting to develop their own chord structures, learn about harmonics and they way they interact, etc... really excited to mess with this more.

~ my compliments. ease of use- hours of user adjustable drones - some of which 'evolve' based upon pre-set algorithmic programs, and these can themselves be user tweeked in a limited way. simple and dense spatial sounds for your droning pleasure.

Love this thing. Only imrovement I can think of is using the iPods accellometer to control the churn of yer drone. If you could add two more drone sounds then the accelometer thingy then you'd be able to tilt it 360* to alter the sound. My pants are tightening just thinking about it. Anyone who's dropped listening to Spacemen 3 will dig this jobby. If yer doing keg stands listening to Nickleback just stick to yer lil video games. This here's Daddys toy, ya Vag.

The app allows you to create harmonic tones in various ways, pitches, formats, and so on. If you like this sort of thing, and I do, this works perfectly. I can do without the monster bee icon and the whole apiarian theme, complete with honeycomb background. I get it: bees' buzzing is a drone sound. But the app doesn't sound like a bee, and who wants a big bee on their iPhone. As a result, I keep the app on a back page and don't use it as often as others I keep closer to the front.

Pretty cool little app. I'm still figuring it out, but it sounds promising. I'd give 5 stars if it had accelerometer controls
