Description
OPTIMIZED FOR iPHONE 4! High-definition graphics that fully utilize the iPhone 4 Retina display.

The benchmark of action-adventure games on next-gen consoles for your iPhone and iPod touch.
**IGN: "Assassin's Creed looks fantastic. This is a console game for your iPhone that sacrifices very little."
**MacWorld: "One of the most ambitious titles for the iPhone yet. The game takes several hours to complete (think 6-10+) and is therefore one of the most lengthy (and challenging) iPhone games I’ve played."
**Pocket Gamer Silver Award: "Honed from an earlier release, this much improved version cuts through control problems with impressive, varied gameplay for a rousing and wholly worthwhile adventure."

Jerusalem, 1191 AD. The Third Crusade between the Crusaders and Saracens is tearing the Holy Land apart.
You are Altaïr, a Master Assassin sent by the Order of the Assassins on a quest to find “The Chalice”, an object of such power that it can end the Crusades, depending on which camp owns it. Steal The Chalice from the Templars before someone offers them the right price for it.
The fate of the Holy Land depends on you...

Plunge into this direct prequel to the critically acclaimed game title, Assassin's Creed™, offering rich gameplay and a well-balanced mix of stealth, chaotic action, and riddle-solving exploration in the midst of fully 3D-rendered historical environments of the Crusade's Middle East.

- Master the assassin's skills to benefit from a wide range of acrobatic moves and perform impressive combo attacks, mixing sword skills and kicks.

- Choose your fighting tactics based on 6 weapons for both close combat and long-range attacks: Swords, daggers, grappling hook, and bombs.

- Skill-based mini-games put your patience & dexterity to the test: Perform pickpocket maneuvers to carefully steal precious items from the crowd and make informants speak.

- Unique dramatic tension on iPhone, intensified by 3D cinematic cutscenes and characters' voices.

- Collect orbs to upgrade health and weapons.

Recommended for fans of action, adventure, and historical games.

If you're thinking about buying Assassin’s Creed, consider what you really want out of a game. The first thing that struck me with AC is how similar this is to Hero of Sparta in layout and feel. But let me review AC as a standalone game. The graphics and animation are very smooth, and I didn’t notice any framerate issues. The voiceovers are done well in placement (but not in practice), and the controls while not the most accurate, are adequate. There are load times in between certain levels and missions which are tolerable and expected.

I’ve never played the original so I’m going at this as an AC immaculate. When you first open up the game and after you’ve gone through the opening video, the first menu offers three options: Play Game, Combat Tutorial, and Memories. The only option that is unlocked is Play Game, and I’ll explain the reason later. Under Options, you can choose from three modes of difficulty: Easy, Medium, and Hard (locked until you complete Medium). You can also select either 360 pad or an 8-direction pad. I tried both and didn’t notice much difference in either type of control scheme. Under Sounds, you have the usual volume and sound effects options, but you can turn on/off the voiceovers which comes in handy. The voices can get irritating after you’ve gone through a few levels.

The game has 9 cities with anywhere from 1-4 sublevels with various weapons including swords, daggers, grappling hook, and bombs. You also have a shield used to block attacks.

During the game, your main controls are the main directional pad along with your shield, swords, and jumping abilities. Depending on the fight you’re engaging in, additional controls will appear such as one for combat and another which involves assassinating someone with a specific weapon. To be honest, it’s rather mundane how it happens. For example, when you interrogate someone, a diagram of a person’s back appears, and your objective is to tap on various numbered areas at just the right time. Do this consistently, and you complete the interrogation. That’s it. Even the art of pick pocketing is reduced to rubbing on the screen and dragging a pre-specified item to an opening. During the course of the game, just as in Hero of Sparta, you collect crystals which either appear in plain sight or come at you after you’ve dispatched an enemy. The crystals can be exchanged for health and weapons upgrades. A green arrow points you in the direction you’re to walk.

You will spend a considerable amount of time walking, climbing and jumping in addition to fighting. The fighting sequences are your basic hack and slash, rather enjoyable but also simple. Most of the time, I’m not even getting hurt, and I can wipe out the other guy in two or three hacks. Climbing on ledges was not a big deal, but you obviously have to do this carefully. Like I said, unlike others, I don’t have any issues with the controls. One thing to note with the ledges and bridges is that some will collapse under you, leaving you unable to reach wherever you’re supposed to go. This happened a few times, and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out where to go. So I did the next best thing, I restarted the mission. In general, I liked running around and jumping the rooftops/climbing walls but keep in mind, this is an "on-rails" kind of game. As you collect crystals, you’ll see visible checkpoints which look like stardust clouds. Reach them and it saves that as your last level completed until you reach the next one. I'm glad they didn't do a voiceover of "Checkpoint" because Fastlane Street Racing would pop into my head.

Now back to Combat Tutorial and Memories. As you progress through the checkpoints, you acquire different skills and weapons. As you do so, a window pops up that demonstrates the use of the weapons with a text description. I actually like this set up and wish other games would do something similar. For example, when you acquire the Face Backhand skill, a video appears and shows it in practice. All of these fighting and weapons skills are stored in the Combat Tutorial which you access as a standalone at the beginning prior to starting a game or during the game by tapping the triangle in the left-hand corner which takes you out to the Options page. For Memories, this keeps track of the levels you’ve completed and allows you to replay any of those levels again.

The mini-puzzles is where things unravel somewhat for me. These mini-puzzles seem to focus on several themes: interrogation (get the information out of someone), pick pocket (you already know how that process goes), informant (do this for me and then I’ll tell you). The other thing that sort of bothers me is that I’m an assassin in this game. Yet, whenever I’m supposed to be quiet and in stealth mode to keep others from discovering me, low and behold, they find me. Of course, then I hack at them and on my merry way I go.

What do I think of the game? It's a game of sword fights and solving mini-puzzles which generally is my kind of game. For those who haven’t played Hero of Sparta, this could be rather enjoyable because I like the visuals and the controls. The game is beautiful and outside of the voiceovers, the sound effects and music are good. For me, it just doesn’t feel as satisfying as it should be especially for a game about assassins and spycraft.
Great!

This is the number one app in my iTouch! Just one thing, once you finish the game there's no replay value. If you could add like a free walk mode or something where you could walk around the city and kill random guys. That would make it an even better game!

This is the best game in the app store, so here's some stats:
-5 weapons; sword, throwing daggers, crossbow, bombs, smoke bombs.
-13 missions with a total of 35 sublevels, each 5 to 15 minutes long.
-Many different combos, from roundhouse kicks to slitting throats.
-A DS game with better graphics and at a third of the price!
-Innovative assassinations; no two are the same.

All in all, this is a great app with a lot to offer. I hope this review helped! Thank you for reading!
Also, it doesn't strike me as a coincidence that the people who give this game bad reviews do not know how to spell...

Some of the other professionally produced action games out there are good-looking but feel one-note to me (think Metal Gear Solid Touch).
This game is fleshed-out with variable gameplay and it looks, sounds and plays great. Most importantly, it's fun! Worth every penny.

Add a FREE ROAM!!! Just like the 360 when you go around killing guards and you can pickpocket someone whenever you want and then it's 5 stars

Wow, first review. This game has great graphics and really fun gameplay. It sets a new standard for apps showing that they can be full, long games. I hate the minigames but that is just a small gripe. The game has fun combat that only gets better thanks to combos and an overall slick control scheme. Also it is hularious that a downgraded version of this was sold on the ds for three times the price. I love this game.

This game is great the graphics are very good it pwns DS graphics for sure all most gets PSP. Game play is nice it takes about 8 hours to beat the whole game (for me). Controls are good it might feel wierd but u get used to it fast. If you played console version this is not open world you cant go where ever you want. This game has some good replay value i beat it on easy now goin for hard. Price is acutaly cheap based on how this is really a complete game with many levels to beat, DS version cost $30 i would pay $10 any day. You wont be disapointed if you like assasins creed or action games THIS IS A MUST BUY U WONT BE DISAPOINTED Update: i payed $9.99 so all of you who have not bought this game now is a good time

I'm a huge fan of the PS3 original, and I'd always wanted to play Altair's Chronicles. I never thought I'd be able to since I don't have a Nintendo DS. I was THRILLED to see it available for the iPhone! The controls take a bit to get used to but the gameplay is outstanding, as well as the graphics. Highly recommended and well worth the $10! Also, if you downrate Altair's Chronicles because it's "not like the other one" and you can't do this or that, then go to Wikipedia and look up this game. It is NOT the Assassin's Creed you have for xbox 360, PS3, or PC. It's a different game, designed for a different type of console.

Version 1.1.1
The game is good but in no way is it better than many other good games in the store, so I -1star for the hype. Graphics are nice but no more than what gameloft has done with their other games in the store. Where the game lacks is in how the story unfolds, with a absolutly horrid voice over narritive that helps you in no way for the upcoming mission, I found myself unable to watch and listen opting for the skip button after the second mission. The combat system is minimalist and to simplistic to to really call it such, a med, and heavy, slash, double taping one and then the other makes a special attack, but nothing so special to write home about. The control system is good, any time I fell or missed a jump I could have easily takin the credit over blaming it on bad controls. The reason why I say I'd hold out for Cops and Robbers is that the only true innovation in this game is the running and jumping/ climbing walls/ swinging and sliding from one object to get to another, Mirrors Edge-esq type feel, that the Cops and Robbers concept is built behined, but the concept is hardly being pushed by this game, the game that actually spawned the concept of (ME) instead the game is more than half completed for you with an arrow pointing the direction you should take at almost every step, telling you what to use and when, without deveating from what seems like a very confined script, I don't know what part of the middle east the story take place in, but it should take place in Russia. You can't help but loose a bit of that sense of accomplishment gained when one completes levels/missions in most other games with everything being done or pointed out to you without ever being able to decide or think for ones self, it feels as if you never get out of tutorial mode. But not being a huge Creed head, it's easy for me to see why I feel the way I do, and fans of the AC club feeling dif, but I will say this isn't a rip off, like what Konami did to Metal fans, this is a real game with real quality, I just don't think it's for everyone, especialy if your not a AC fan to begin with. Currently Playing: 7Days, Silent Scope, Hill Billy, igem "check that out soooo addictive" Puzzle Prism, 3Dspinball,and Elemental Monster. Waiting For: NFS "if the rumors are true" Cops and Robbers "naturally" Tankz,Scud, CS One, and anything else with guns blood and more guns. No offense to Russia or russins especialy the women:)

This is a really cool game and is definately the iPhone/iPod game so far! It needs a bit more work though, like free roam, being able to scale any wall or building (no matter how high) and being able to assasinate any character or civilian but over all, definately the best and most fun iphone/iPod game!!!
