This app is a phenomenal iphone app. So much progressive thinking here to enjoy! I love the fact that you can map parameters to the X and Y pad included, as well as map the X and Y tilt of the iphone to different parameters. Thats cool. Not only that, it is possible to have multiple destinations
for these assignments. Whats incredible is that as technical as all that may sound to you, the developer manages to make the little manual really clear and simple. If you are new to synthesis it will of course take time to understand those basics, but for any synthesist guys out there, buy this now. You get a lot for a very small investment! Its really cool how you can play a note on the keyboard and slide it to any other note and move your finger on the vertical access to control things like filter etc..... Of course the Bebot app is king in this domain and people would have to work hard to compete with the multiple touch control and auto tuning features that we developed for that. My one criticism worth mentioning here is that it is quite hard to read the menu items. Can't you guys make those clearer so its not a struggle to read?? People would enjoy the experience of using the app even more if this element of the program was a little friendlier.
Finally- thank you for spending the time and making something that sounds great, is easy to absorb and makes it possible to jump right in there and have a great time making music. Hey- that's what it is all about....

I've tried a lot of music making apps While I do enjoy most of them, this app offers the most bang for the buck. The biggest draw is that you can build songs by creating projects of saved, sequenced patterns. Once you get the project/pattern architecture as well as live vs sequence, it really clicks that there's a lot to like in this app. I'm still exploring and learning (the Edit menu is my latest area to conquer), but am pleased so far and am almost done with my first song...would love to export to iTunes when I'm done (not supported) as far as I see.).
Like a lite version of the Korg DS-10

I have been carrying my Nintendo DS around for the past few months so that I have my DS-10 handy at all times. This program is close enough that I just removed an entire device from my bag.
While it doesn't have the cool patch cords that the DS-10 has, it makes up for by how it stores individual sounds and handles the storage of sounds, tracks, and songs.
Also, check out the developers site. The first post release post was made in the 'forum' and the developer immediately replied to the suggestions made. If they are going to be this responsive, I have VERY high hopes!
This little program has earned a place right next to noise.io and BeatMaker on my phone!
Very disappointing, especially considering the companies that created it

I am a huge fan of both audioMIDI.com and Virsyn and was excited to try this out. Having watched the demo video on Macmusic.org I got the impression that it may not be a serious writing tool but I had hoped there was more to...there isn't. If you're looking for some fun you might find it worth it, but if you're looking for it to serve any composition purpose you will probably be as disappointed as I am. My initial comments: 1) the "glow" look on EVERYTHING can get a little straining; 2) while the step sequencer is cool there seems to be no way to delete patterns or use them in any way to form a song; 3) something as simple as a changing an octave of a recorded part does not seem possible without deleting notes and re-recording it; 4) you press the Play button to Pause, and the Pause button to Play...huh?; 5) it doesn't seem that you can record live performance from the keys or pads. If you can, it is highly unintuitive, especially since there is no "record" button; 6) it comes preloaded with a bunch of random patterns which may be fun to play around with at first, but in the end they become annoying since you can't delete them without removing all step sequenced notes individually; 7) the various controls such as motion based FX modulation are creative and fun, at least for a little while; 8) the X/Y pad is very cool, especially throwing the cursor around the field; 9) the need for all of the synth control parameters is unclear since there is very little you can do with your final product and those features are more oriented toward "pro" users while the rest of the app is not; 10) calling iSyn a "virtual music studio" makes it seem far more complete than it really is. Despite my criticisms, if it is intended to be more of a fun app, many beginner musicians may find it worth the $5.
Just great

Perfect combination of handheld simplicity and sonic quality. You can bang out some useful sounds with this gem. The drum machine alone is worth the price. Synth is high quality for a handheld. I'll be running a line out into my home studio. Finally! an app thats fun, is easy to use, and sounds great. I like the live keys function as well. Good job!
super fun on a huge sound system!

I have tried pretty much every iphone musical application having to do with synths or synthesis and electronic music production, and none of them has even come close to this one. I found this one is incredibly fun for playing live when you get your parameters all set up to react to the tilt and x y functions. I actually had a chance to hook this up to a gigantic sound system this weekend to play for people, and nobody could believe that this was all coming from my iphone! To Deep Plya, you can make full songs with it by creating and duplicating patterns within a project and hitting auto play to advance through the patterns. You can easily delete whole songs or patterns at a time by copying a blank one to the one you would like to delete. The manual is pretty in depth I have found and I recommend checking it out. I am looking forward to updates on this one for sure!

This is by far the coolest synth app I have seen. You get two synths, each whith fully programmable 3 oscillator, filter, Lfo, fx sections and more. A very nice capable drum machine and a piano roll style sequencer AND you can paly live input along with the sequencer, either with a keyboard for the synths or a kind of mpc style pad thing for the drums. Now just to be clear, I don't work for virsyn... But they have been making software synths for years which means YES! You get synths created by people who actually know how to make synthesizers! The incredible list of parameters for each aspect of the sound backs this up. So, to close.. Sorry if this sounds like and ad but I'm just really excited to finally have something that I can actually spend time programming and writing fun little tracks with! Hopefully more audio companies will follow suit. iLogic anyone?

I'm a professional musician, and use software to make music every day. This is really quite an amazing app for the iphone. It's actually powerful enough to sketch out some cool grooves and musical ideas. The accelerometer driven sound tweaking is really a great idea, and loads of fun. It's amazing you can buy stuff like this for 5 bucks! Compared to the prices I pay for Pro apps to run on my mac, these apps are such a bargain. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is into beats and synthesis. Totally fun, and very intuitive. Probably the best implementation of a sequencer I've seen on the iphone yet. Great work!!!!!
good simple fun.

Editing patches isn't as intuitive as minisynth, sequencer isn't as robust as beatmaker and its nowhere near as complex as Noise.IO....but... its quicker, more responsive, easier to use and looks great. This is not the most powerful synth app out there but its a joy to use and if your like me, who is pretty new to this stuff, it seems like a great place to start. Additionally, the sound quality is great, never skips or distorts even with a lot going on and has a rich warm analog feeling to it for something coming out of my phone.
Great sound!

Version 1.0
I say it's worth it just for the synth sound quality and playability. Latency is very low, much more playable and better sounding than mini synth. In regards to the comparisons to beatmaker and noise io, its so different from beatmaker that its hard to compare. I like it much better than noise io, both in terms of sound and ease of programming. The delays are awesome as well, best I've heard in a iPhone synth app. The latency on the drum pads could be better, and we really should be able to program with the live tools. Also, I think the keyboard auto tune function could use some refinement. It's cool to gliss and all, but a lot of times I find myself landing in uncharted/unwelcomed microtonal territories. Bebot nailed this, and it's hard to do just right. I haven't even scratched the surface of the recording abilities yet, I'm excited about it. And if it ever beomes polyphonic, it's gonna be really great.

A few improvements in the next version and it will be a bomb app I was looking for korg DS10 replacement for an iphone. This app is pretty good start. Keep up good work guys! Here are a few suggestions: Sequencer grid; - moving finger on sequencer grid vertically increase decrease velocity - a scale rather than pianoroll. If I chose a pentatonic scale, I wouldn't need to deal with unnecessary notes - holding a finger on a square could create a triplet Pattern view: - Assign each instrument to one line. So I could combine A1 bass pattern with C3 drum pattern xY control edit: - on certain controls range should be +/- 50 Others: - add an extra voice - grid sequencer for filters and other controls - split xy control to two "square xy controls" - vertical sliders for editing (easier with thumbs) Also fix the bugs Later
Much better than BM and Noise iO...

...because it's approachable. God only knows how many buttons knobs, and functions there are in noise io (I find new ones every time I launch the app)...it's insane. The funny thing about noise io too, is that even with ALL that complexity, it's still mono!? Beat Maker is cool, but it's sample based only. IMO iSyn is the best of both worlds. It's easy to program, the synths sound fantastic, the timing is perfect, and the filter and effects can be controlled with tilt! I've had more fun with iSyn in the last day, than any other music iPhone apps I own combined.

I bought this app yesterday and ended up spending the whole day playing with it. It took me a while to get used to it because im a noob at this. Overall i gave it 4 stars because its has room for improvement.
I bought iDrum a few weeks ago for the same price but this one is far more complex. Go figure.
Replace 500$+ worth of hardware...

Read the reviews, watch the demos, spend your lunch money, just quit waiting. I sound like any synth band from the 70's to the present with this thing, but it's got some bugs. If you would buy this now the devs could work those out more quickly and I could do even more. If you don't like the drum sounds tweak them! If you can't write a song in 5 mins, take yer ritalin and chill! If each pattern had double the bars i'd die happy, I love this thing! My neighbors think i'm playing old prodigy, but its just me/isyn/headphone line/stereo. Amazing!
