because whatever these reviewers are smoking must be really good. My original rate was three but I droped it to it's true quality, for the fact that so many of the reviews are LYING TO YOUR FACE. If you want metal on your iPhone then buy it. If you want to play a game, a shooter, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Konami pulled the same biz thq did with the force. Billy frontier is better than this as far as a stationary shooter, and that game is for puppies. And I have a Box,Box360, S3, wii, S2, S1, pSP,cube, nes, and PC, I know the difference between them and my iPhone. So I don't expect to see consol nor PC graphx, but I do expect to actually play a game that atleast has a little thought put into it for 8bucks. I think namco or gameloft could sue for playgerism. If you have wildwest or Time Crisis you already have this game but better, plus 8 bucks. Well it may not be worst than TC, but wildwest is def a more polished, replayable, difficultly fun game, and gameloft is the king of one play wonders. Is this a one star game? No, but I have to do something to save cash for my fellow ibros/sisters THIS APP IS A SPRING BOARD PAPER WEIGHT, where is the 80+megs at? this amount of quality coulda been done under 10megs or less. You can beat the game in under 30min, there is absolutly, I said ABSOLUTLY NO replayablility. I would say only get it if your a metal fan, but that would be the same as buying a devil worship book when you faithfully belive in god. Even though I was mostly disappointed that it wasn't open world, as a motionless stationary on rails, as far as gameplay, and replayabilty go, it's almost the worst in the store if it wernt for the graphics. So I'm begging all the reviews that gave this game a 5er, CAN I HAVE SOME? And should I smoke it before, or after I play the game?

Get a free whack-a-mole game and download some MGS fan art. Cheesy sprites pop up and you click on them with a cursor while whistfully daydreaming about the other things you could have done with that ten dollars. Seriously, it uses a cursor. The whole point of a touch screen undone with an awkward crosshair cursor. No 3d gameplay, no skill, no strategy, and a horrid story line paired with the most un-fun, unattractive interface ever. I was giddy with excitement during the entire ten minute download. I was expecting 90 megs of robust gaming goodness from a reputable development house, and got more rediculously overpriced app spam. This takes everything good about the iPhone as a gaming platform and poops on it.

I'd really give the game 4 1/2 stars but I rounded it up to a 5. The controls work like this. Snake automatically hides behind cover, and when you touch any part of the screen Snake pops out of cover. You can touch any part of the screen to move your pointer around and you can tap any part of the screen to make Snake shoot. You do not tap on the enemies to kill them, you have to move your finger across the screen to place the pointer on them, this makes the gameplay much more engaging than merely tapping on the enemies. The game is simple in nature but it is engaging enough to be fun.

It should be noted that even though this game is a bit more expensive than the average ipod touch/iphone game, it is highly polished. You can tell that Konami spent time getting the music, the graphics, the controls, and the gameplay just right. Personally, I'd love to see developers like Konami bring out these types of highly polished games more often. The less expensive games are entertaining too, but there is a difference in quality between games like these and the 0.99 cent variety.
Ok game. But not great :(

this is an ok game, but seriously shooting at card board cut outs?? Just dumb for 7.99 and better come with more than 20 levels (as free uodates) or I wont be reccomending this to anyone. The gameplay should of been like Brothers in Arms for the iphome then this game would be worth 15 bucks. Bottom line: its basicly tap to shoot and dosnt have enough levels for 7.99. Do not buy if Konami wont listen! This is a waste of money for 12 levels. DO NOT BUY THIS APP!!!!
Perfect Introduction To MGS 4 For An iPod Touch!! Simple But Sweet!

•Overall•••

The Game Centers Around the story line and events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots. It's very cut and dry though unlike the platform derivative, there are no cut screens for the stories purpose, but instead a subtle image giving focus to the situation along the storyline, with a brief but straightforward summary informing you on current happenings in the storyline. No cut screens seemed to be expected, would have provided more depth to the game itself, but given the fact that this game is an introduction of sorts to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots, they would serve true purpose in the platform release.

•Gameplay Outline•••

Gameplay Is Simple but enjoyable You Have to kill an "x" amount of number of given enemies in each level to clear it. Completion of This is followed by the statistics screen, health remaining, time cleared, accuracy etc. Depending On your rank(any given CODENAME) Or percentage, a certain amount Of Drebin Points(DP) Is awarded to you, which can in return be used at the Drebin Shop to purchase Art derived from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots.

•Gameplay Style•••

Drag Your Finger Across the Screen To Move the Reticule, tapping on the screen to shoot. Taking your finger off of the screen will put Old Snake in a take cover stance rather then up and alert. Usually this will put you behind given cover, which at times can be present or not depending on the level.

•Weapons/Use•••

From the start of the game Two Weapons are provided. For enemies within range the M4 is handy for quick kills. For enemies out of range that can become an annoyance if not taking cover, the SVD comes to play to take care of them with head shots. To equip the SVD pinch in on the screen, keep in mind while viewing through the sniper scope you can be fired upon, while more enemies emerge. So be sure to focus the reticule on your enemy first before sniping.

•As For Hints And Info On Enemies... I'll leave that up too you to play and discover in gameplay.

A Side Note••

My wish list for hopeful implements into the game.

Training Levels separate from the actual storyline itself. Maybe something along the lines as training for dealing with each given type of specific enemy(with difficulty settings) from the game aside from bosses of course. This could be a fun addition, that would add more game play to the game.

Side Missions aside from the storyline itself. Maybe keep to the "stealth" part the MGS series is famous for, maybe hide snake in a barrel and shoot unsuspected enemies? or bring use to the Mk in this game somehow. would be neat idk Kojima Pro staff is pretty creative ;)

Ability To play as different characters, would be neat to see Raiden in action and cut enemies close enough to use his katana.

And of course what every MGS game should have, and has always had, the use of the code names given based on mission accuracy to unlock something special upon completing the game ;p

I've been skeptical about this since initial release. After playing the LITE version, I thought the gameplay was satisfying and fun, and finally decided to dump $8 to buy it. I am completely satisfied. Length: My first runthrough took me five or six days. My second runthrough took maybe an hour or two. I still play it for a quick distraction. For an $8+ game, it's not very long, but has more replay value than most around that price. Bottom line, if you liked the demo and wanted more, buy it. It's worth the money. One glitch: the aiming retina sticks from time to time, messing up the flow of going from target to target.

This is a key example of an amazing app. Rewarding players with something like wallpapers is a great idea! Keep it up! Make even more MGS touch....es. They're really good!

What's not to like? You get a quick storyline recap in a palm-friendly shooter. For a good price at that. Allthough, It would be nice to copy the artwork you purchase. For those of us with Ipod Touches. What is up with the new "unknown" artwork? Like that they're keeping it fresh.

This game is pretty good. The story, graphics, sound, are spot on and perfect for this genre of a game. Though I don't think this is worth eight dollars (maybe four) it's still great. With the extra eight levels, it is better... But maybe one more update would do itfor me. More levels? Should have an online multiplayer where two players play and shoot at a certain spot then move on to the next scene in the same level, an arcade game. Update said iPad optimization. Is there a way to revert back on what I had? I'm not getting an iPad and 100+ mb were added. Too much for my iPod touch...
It's great just needs improvement

If you're expecting this to play like any of the Metal Gear games on the consoles, you'll be greatly disappointed. However, I greatly enjoyed it. Until the new update. Since the updates, this game has greatly increased in difficulty to the point that it's down right frustrating. You can honestly farm the Drebin points you need without having to beat the game to unlock the pics available to purchase. There's honestly no point in beating it (especially if you beat the console game, and there a simple mistake isn't so bad). It still is the best game in the app store (graphic wise).
