SoLuna is a utility for the iPhone and iPod touch that calculates moon phases as well as predicted sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset times. It also calculates predictions for the begin and end of civil, nautical, and astronomical twilight. The current moon phase is shown at the top of the main screen, while the predicted dates for the next 4 major phases are shown along the bottom of the main screen. The rise, set and twilight data is in table form in the center of the screen. The current latitude and longitude that the program is using for calculations is displayed in decimal format at the bottom left of the main screen. SoLuna can use the built in location capabilities of the iPhone to determine your location, or you can set your location manually on the settings page. You can can also change the date on the settings page to calculate information for other dates.
What's New In This Version?

Like it, needs a couple more things (1.6)

Version 1.6
I like that it is an instant and basic display of info. I also like that it is easy to advance to other dated. However I would like two things improved about the date interface. One, it'd be really nice if you could just swipe to the next or previous date instead of having to tap the arrows. Interface would be much quicker and smoother and quite frankly more appropriate to the iPhone. Next it really needs a feature to quickly get you back to todays date, like by double tapping the date. Lastly there should be an option to show a 12-hour time display. Transit (peak) times would also be nice even if it is easy enough to calculate based on rise and set times. Look forward to more updates!

Version 1.7
I've been looking hard, but can't seem to find a way to get SoLuna to take into account daylight saving time when displaying data. The net result is that you have to remember to fiddle with your timezone setting to move the displayed times back and forth when DST starts and ends.

Version 1.7
I loved it on my iPod touch, but now on my new iPhone 4, it never loads anything. I'm not sure it is playing nice with OS4. This would be a 4 star review because it used to just do what it advertised and was simple and easy to read. Even without location in the field on the touch at least it would load info based on date. Now nothing...

Version 1.7
I have had this app forever on my iphone. Just said, "I have an app for that" in response to a question about the time of the sunrise. The program would not geo locate me so I spent the next 15 minutes obtaining and trying to manually enter the longitude and latitude into the program. It is telling me the sun is rising at 12:23 am. Next, It incorrectly displays the latitude I enter in the info screen on the front screen. But all this is minor compared to the broken links on this page (located above, just underneath description) for Danny Flippos website and Soluna support. This app appears abandoned. Is Danny MIA? I would love to be wrong.
