AudioBoo

I love the application concept but it is taking time to learn how to use it. It is not nearly as intuitive as it could be. Audioboo doesn't seem to interface equally with all my social media platforms. The audio is solid. I like the picture uploads. I love listening to "boos" from around the world. The maps are an interesting feature. The graphics on the webpage are bland for such an exciting application. It seems this application was rushed to market, but even so it is groundbreaking in opening up the written world of social media to audio. I look forward to Version 2.0!

I'll give more stars when I can view my followed boos. AudioBoo is a great idea! I can see/hear lots of possibilities. Please continue to update the app.

Just so you know what my use was, I recently took my iPhone and AudioBoo on a week-long trip to Mono Lake and Lassen National Park (both in fairly remote parts of California). I ended up posted about 65 boos during the week.

Pros

1. The app basically worked as advertised and was stable (don't recall any crashing). Others were able to listed to my posts on the audioboo.fm website w/o any problems, and comments they left for me there came to me as emails so I could respond.

2. The ability to add a picture and a GPS coordinate really helped my friends follow my trip.

3. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, and I think I'll use this program again.

However, there is room for improvement, and I'd like to make these suggestions.

Cons

1. Due to my spotty cell coverage in the remote areas I was traveling in, I would love the ability to queue up boos for later delivery when I do have a cell network. The pictures aren't too much of a problem since I can take the picture and store it in my film roll for later use in any boo posting, but the iPhone app only stores at most one audio clip to send before recording a separate one.

2. Related to #1 is that the GPS coordinates sent are those when the boo is actually posted to the network and not where I recorded the boo. The audio and the GPS and the picture need to be captured as a unit and then sent together so my listeners see and hear and look at a map all from the same location.

3. I'd like an optional completion tone when the boo has finished posting. On an edge network, each boo can take several minutes to post.

4. I'd like an optional failure sound when the boo fails to post. On an edge network, a failure can occur after several minutes.

5. I'd like an optional auto-retry a user-specified number of times if the boo fails to post.

6. I think there's a small GUI bug. When using the "Create" button just after finishing a posting, the next posting's rising progress bar is hard to see since the previous post's progress bar isn't cleared.

7. Perhaps it was due to remoteness, but I found on an edge network that the post frequently failed to go through even though I had three or four edge bars and could send an receive mail and use Safari, etc.

I recently used this app to record a travelogue from a big sporting event I was attending. When it worked it was brilliant and the results were very well received. However, when large groups of people (80,000+) get together in one area, cell coverage can become very spotty. Like another reviewer said, it would be nice to be able to queue up several Boos for later upload when the cell coverage is better. Also would be nice if the GPS coordinates would be saved at the time of recording not at the time of upload.

Even though it still needs tweaks. It works fantastic for recording audio and posting pics on your iPhone. Fast uploads & good design

AudioBoo gives you a portable studio in your pocket

Pros: great audio quality, easy to use, clean interface. Cons: can't see details of the "boos" like you can on the website, can't copy link to "boos". Can't email link to "boos" etc. No link to AudioBoo website so that you can quickly go there.

This app is really fun. It bascially allows you to podcast from your iphone. Once you record your audio and send it up to the website, you can click a link to subscribe to a user's "boos" through iTunes or via RSS. The quality sound quality is surprisingly good. A fun app that is worth trying out!

I love this app. My 7 year old used it to post audio to his blog from our vacation to the Grand Canyon. I am an elem. Principal and I plan to use it with my twitter stream this school year. I think the parents will love it. The only thing that I would like added is the ability to save multiple boos for later publication because I live in a rural area and do not always have a connection.

I love this app. I enjoy the ability to record short recordings about my day. I just wish I had the ability to record longer recordings.

If you're stuck listening to everyone's audios, where's the value? You're almost there, Audioboo...

My friend Documentally told about this app for the iPhone and I LOVE it! Just perfect for when you are out and about on an adventure and want to record just audio and send a picture out to your friends. I download the AudioBoo's Podcast and then I have my friends adventure right there with me as I travel during the day! Just blown away with it! And it's soooo easy to use! I love my iPhone 3Gs and I love this app! But I still like SeesMic more! lol

Cool app, but why can't I select to look at just my followed boos?

I really love this app! Audio "twitters"... I can't wait until my next trip to Disney, will be great to record audio from attractions!

I am very excited about the audioboo concept, it really is amazing and I think could be as big as Twitter, it is actually fun to browse through peoples boos, something about just hearing people that is the new and missing ingredient in the realm of social networking. This app is the only one I know of for audioboo. Make sure to set up an account on their website, then you can link to your facebook and Twitter accounts. You new boos become your status updates- how cool is that. Jump I'm now before Aston Kutcher and Oprah do!
