Description
Ad Hoc Helper lets you email a copy of your device's UDID (unique device identifier) to developers so they can add you to their Ad Hoc distribution profiles. This allows them to create a special version of their apps that can be run on your iPhone outside of the normal AppStore channels.



Ad Hoc distribution is perfect for beta testing as well as for small in-house projects with an limited distribution group, of up to 100 iPhones and/or iPod touches. (Please note: Ad Hoc Helper is not a beta product. It helps developers run their own beta programs.)



To run, just tap the icon. A message immediately opens in your Mail application with your UDID information. Address it to the developer in question and send it on its way.

Trying to explain the convoluted way apple makes you get the UDID from iTunes is like trying sell a colonic to a homophobic evangelist, but explaining how to get it with Ad Hoc Helper is as easy as slapping a high five!

Now let's just see if the ad hoc distro is actually working yet.

This is an awesome app. I saw that 1PW went into beta and needed the UDID. They linked to this app, and it got the info so fast that I am one of the lucky 100 beta testers! Thanks, Erica!

As a developer, it's nice to tell someone "just grab Ad Hoc Helper and send me the result". Sure, there's a way to do this same process through iTunes, but if I'm standing next to a friend, it's easier for them to just grab the app and email me immediately.... not to mention it makes the process a bit easier.
