Record, Import, Cut, Arrange, Share — With the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the mic, cut snippets using a very precise zoomable waveform, combine snippets from multiple recordings, make your own Soundboard, import files via WiFi, and output files via Email / WiFi / Facebook / Twitter, this app becomes really useful real fast.

Record voice notes, interviews, lectures, ambient sounds, podcasts, etc; Cut out parts most important to you and share it with ease.

Have a little fun with audio by recording someone saying something and rearranging it into something completely different - preferably embarrassing :)

Import audio files via WiFi and edit them on the go. Export those edits when you're done and use them as you will, saving yourself time.

There's a ton of different things you can do with this full featured app, and at this price you really can't go wrong.

Go to www.tapparatus.com for a fun video demo or to email us with any questions or issues. Please remember that there is no way for us to respond/help via comments.

PS. For those who think we have a silly name for an app that is extremely useful, I kind of agree, but c'mon, why does everything have to be so serious?! :)

Finally: Adjustable Recording Level!

I bought this app just to mess around with audio recordings, editing and rearranging them for humorous effect. This works well (and can be VERY funny), but I'll agree with some of the other reviewers that the process is a little long-winded and the audio transition between rearranged audio clips could be smoother. I would give the app 4 to 5 stars based on the above alone. But what really pushes it up to the 5 star level is its adjustable mic sensitivity level/ recording level. I've bought several audio recording apps, and NONE of them have this feature. Why is this feature important? In a nutshell: when you're recording loud sounds, you can turn DOWN the mic sensitivity so that, on playback, the recorded sound is not distorted, useless. This feature is a MUST-HAVE if you want to capture a clean, distortion-free audio recording.

This app is awesome. I love how you can arrange snippets. Audio editing built in. Can't wait to see updates to see what's next. This is the best recording app I've tried. Keep up the good work.

Don't be fooled by the gag app marketing. This is an exremely useful audio app with input level adjustment, editing, and email functionality with variable fidelity/file size. Developers: I would tweak the arrange window to be more like the record window to facilitate better timing of the edits, then market this as this best audio recorder in the store. Nonetheless, bravo well done.

Takes way too long to manually cut out words. I thought it would have the option for this, but would also feature some sort of auto-clipping word detection, which would actually make this useable.

Finally, I have found an app which can record both my own closeup memos and more distant voices, and it also happens to be a basic audio editor! Although iSaidWhat?! is marketed as a way to make and alter recordings of your friends' voices for "fun", it is really a sophisticated recording app with on-the-fly microphone level adjustment and waveform display, and can also be used to trim out unnecessary parts of the recording. I rated this four stars, as some improvements are needed to make it a first-class app: 1. Better control of mic level - the slider is too sensitive (tiny change in position = huge change in input sensitivity), perhaps it is a linear "taper" but needs to be logarithmic? 2. Show the mic waveform even when not recording to assist in setting the mic level. 3. Add a clipping indicator (like a red flashing dot somewhere on the display, or have the waveform turn red where it is clipping). EXTRA CREDIT: To really increase the "fun factor" add a voice-changing feature to it!

I'd like to cross fade. If this was a multi track recorder it would be worth 10 times as much. I'm using it to record riffs and arrange them into a song. You can change your arrangement around on the fly to see what works best.
