The voice recognition is frighteningly accurate. It even discerns obscure bits of vocabulary. The search results often seem surprisingly better than they would be from Google proper. It works. It's extremely handy. I love it.

This puts all the Google tools in one app, so it's a shortcut for gmail, docs, maps, etc. But wait! It allows you to use voice search on those apps too! Google is teh cool.

This is meant to be like "Google Desktop" for the iPhone/iPod. It doesn't solely search webpages, it searches your entire phone for things in your contacts, calendar, etc.

This app is awesome. And it got more awesome with this little trick. Tired of using the app to search something only to see the app close and open safari well no more. What you need to do for the app to open your search with in it's own browser you must do the following. Open the app and tap the settings tab scroll all the way down till you get to about. This is where the trick comes in keep scrolling like if there was something past about. The screen will will bounce letting you know it can't scroll any further don't stop keep at it eventually you will see a new title under about named bells and whistles. That's another submenu tap that and you will find new options like color themes for the app new two new sounds for when you do voice searches as well as open search with in the app option. The key to finding this menu is to go to the settings menu and scroll past about and keep on scrolling till you see it appear. I hope you guys enjoy this.
Only good for search, skip "Explore More"

Good for searching, because its query completion and auto-generated shortcuts let you search with a lot less typing. But that’s it. Don’t bother with the huge “Explore more Google products” button. All those Google product icons just launch within Safari. You can bookmark them and get the same result. I’d been hoping they would launch in a more mobile device-friendly way. Clicking “Calendar” takes you to a Google search page where you can click a “Calendar” hyperlink. Uh, how about taking me directly to my calendar? Yeah, 2 stars, and one of those because the app is free.

I must be missing something - Searches do open inside the app, but everything else launches Safari. The app is just an APPlication menu / launcher for Google. Might as well just use Safari!

Do not upgrade: Adds Google Buzz on the sly

Yes, this version adds various bug fixes. But what they very carefully don't show you in the screenshots or tell you in the release notes is that they've also added Google Buzz through the back door. Sneaky. Very sneaky. Just like when they released Buzz recently and shared your email contacts with the world. And indexed the results. Slick, very slick. Makes you wonder if they'll post your actual emails next, or index your search history to your email address for the world to discover. I'll admit, I'm not sure when they crossed over from Do No Evil to screw the users, but that seems to be where we've come. Back to this release, note that once you've upgraded, you can't downgrade back to the old version. Probably best to just stay away from this release...

By far, the best search engine out there. But to tell you the truth, I had my Google app open links inside the application already.(Way before the update) There's a little hack (not really, but it works) Go and launch Google's app and go to the settings inside the Google app. Scroll all the way down to the bottom. Then scroll down superfast repeatedly like 6-8 times. Then a pop up should come up. You can change the color of the theme and what not.

Again this does not work with the ipod touch even if u have the earphones with mic! I was thinking with the 3.0 verison update it would have the abitiy to use the ipod touch with the earphone mic. I really would want it to work with the ipod touch and i have the earphone with the mic!
