Description
AutoWiFi logs on your iPhone or iPod Touch automatically to Wi-Fi hotspots by saving your username and password and sending it to the hotspot provider when needed. No more remembering and retyping your username and password every time: just launch AutoWiFi and you're connected. It replaces the built in system and works with many hotspots that the built in system does not work with.

--- Important Note ---
Please use OS 3.1 or OS 2.X for full AutoWiFi compatibility.
---

Not sure if AutoWiFi is the right App for you? Try AutoWiFi Lite free of charge first (available in the App Store).

By using an advanced learning system AutoWiFi works with most web authenticated hotspots out of the box so you don't have to send us information on the hotspot for us to add it to a database. Simply launch AutoWiFi and log in once by following the "add network" instructions. AutoWiFi learns what to do to connect and will automatically connect you in future without you having to reenter your data: quick, clean and easy.

Feature List:
* Automatically logs you on to your web authenticated hotspots (public WiFi hotspots such as universities, hotels, restaurants, cafes)
* Advanced learning system can learn to connect to hotspots without sending us information about them first
* Store as many WLAN hotspots as you want to
* No need to wait for us to update a database in case a hotspot changes its connection profile: just let AutoWiFi relearn it
* Zero-Touch reconnecting: once AutoWiFi knows your network you only need to launch the app, no further clicks are needed to log on
* Very easy to use

Current Limitations:
* iPhone OS 3.0 problems, use OS 2.x or 3.1 instead
* Will not work on hotspots where you have to enter your username and password on the first page and accept a license agreement on a second page
* Networks that need an sms to connect (e.g. the AT&T network) will not work

Getting Started:
1) Go to the hotspot you wish to use and add it to the iPhone's known hotspots (launch Settings and press WiFi).
2) Instead of launching Safari to enter your user name and password, launch AutoWiFi instead.
3) AutoWiFi will offer you an Add Network button. Click it and follow the instructions to teach AutoWiFi to connect.
4) Next time you need to log in to this hotspot just launch AutoWiFi and it will automatically re-authenticate you. You no longer need to retype your username and password every time.
What's New In This Version?
-Support for networks with percent signs in usernames or passwords (e.g. Queens University)
- Improved support for networks with challenge data (e.g. neuf.fr)

i use for starbucks - only problem is it stops working after 2 or 3 locations are programmed in - that is a major bug - it gets confused and won't log in at any - it may be worse but i haven't tested other wifi sources - worked well with only 2 locations
One caveat

Ok, I hate to read reviews by people who "just bought" a product. So, I will admit that I just got this five minutes ago. However, I am ECSTATIC! I've been waiting for this for so long. That long wait and the depth of research I've done compells (and qualifies) me to write a review only after having used the product for a few minutes. So, the caveat is this, maybe we should consider this a review solely covering the price, set-up and ease of use.

Price
The price is perfect!

Set-up
In a word, set-up was flawless. It generated an error initially only to notify me that a certain setting needed to be toggled. That was it.

Ease of use
My corporation handles sensitive data, so any outside computers, ipods, etc., must use a private, guest network. To make matters worse, my somewhat randomized credentials change every thirty days or so. I can't tell you what a pain it is to have to try to recall the password and re-authenticate EVERY time I want to access the weather, app store, or the web on my touch. Not anymore. I click an icon, the content just appears without the authentication page launching.

Thanks for some great programming guys.

01/12/09 - I thought I'd come back now that I've used the product for two weeks and update my review. I'm still pleased and impressed. But, my credentials changed and I had to delete my original profile. The app now requires that I launch the app to connect to my network. My guess is that I didn't do some thing correctly the second time around. Maybe the update out today will correct that. Other than that, everything's great.

BTW - Someone should check Apple's math. If a product has five ratings total, three of which are five-stars, and the other two are one- and two-stars, how can the average be two? The average should be 3.8 (or four-stars). It makes the app look less popular than it really is.
Finally, an app I use every day!

My university provides free wifi to students, but frequently after my iPod has been in sleep mode for a while, I have to log in again. It got very annoying to have to log back in multiple times a day, sometimes as often as every 30 minutes. Now, when I get to campus, I just tap the autowifi icon and I'm logged on in under 10 seconds! And since my university and the public library both use the same authentication system (bluesocket), it works there too! I won't have to punch in my library card number again, and I won't have to login manually until I need to change my password. I'll clear up some confusion. This is not a wifi hotspot finder. You need to connect to the hotspot first using the Settings or a stumbler app. This is for if every page redirects to the same login screen. Some libraries use this to verify you are a patron before allowing access to their wifi, and some paid hotspots use a similar system. Before you even think about buying this, try the lite version to make sure it works as you expect.
everything worked perfectly till os 3.0 ruined it all

I thought 3.0 would make this app obselete. au contrair. apple I simply not smart enough to create a wifi login interface that automatically relogs you in. I still need auto wifi at my university and now it doesn't work. one caveat: it doesn't truly keep u logged in. it just keeps u from havin to reenter info to log in. if your phone goe to sleep u are logged out and will need to go back to the app where it will auto reenter your info in like 1 second. a MUST for university wifiers like me. UGH 3.0!!

I use this at my school- we have wifi but it kicks me off constantly, and putting in my student login information each time that happened was cumbersome. This app has saved me the trouble. Great app, no flaws I can find.
Great Time Saver

Version 1.0.132
As a medical student I rotate through many hospitals all with different WiFi setups. There's no need to go through time-consuming login credential screens anymore. Being able to access my email or quickly use online references like UpToDate is key. This app saves me a ton of time. Thanks!

Easy Wi Fi has an ugly icon AND It doesn't work consistently. What does Easy Wi Fi network even mean?? World's largest? Seriously? All I needed was for the device to remember my login credentials at certain hotspots. Easy Wi Fi makes the process more complicated that it CAN be. THIS App -- an example why it can be easier and that's why I switched. AutoWiFi is no-nonsense and works every time.
It works

This was a great app and a real joy to use until OS3 broke it. And the work around with Boingo only works if you have a Boingo account @$7.95 per month!
